About Us

Who We Are

As a fraternal benefit society, NMB is classified as a 501(c)(8) tax-exempt organization that must organize its members into social lodges, which we call branches. Fraternal benefit societies exist solely for the benefit of their members and their beneficiaries. When someone applies for a life insurance or annuity policy with National Mutual Benefit, they are also applying to be a member of our organization; therefore, those who have purchased a policy are also NMB members.

What We Do

NMB is consistently active in the communities where our members live. Every member is geographically assigned to branches, which are the focal point of NMB's charitable mission. NMB provides financial support to manage, promote, and assist these branches in completing charitable work in their local communities on our organization's behalf.

Our History

National Mutual Benefit was founded in January 1902 in Stoughton, Wisconsin, as the Beavers Reserve Fund Fraternity (BRFF).
